Philadelphia, PA, December 6th, 2016 – Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC, a law firm that represents corporate clients, midsized privately held businesses, and construction related companies, has announced that George Pallas will become the Firm Wide Managing Partner, effective January 1, 2017.
A founding member of the firm, Mr. Pallas currently serves as treasurer and member of the firm Board, as well as counsels a wide range of construction clients.
“George has been a key contributor to the firm over the last 28 years as it has grown from nine to 60 lawyers,” said Jason Copley, who has served as the firm’s managing partner for the last 6 years. Copley said that “George has a vision for the continued strategic growth of the firm that sets a solid path for our next generation of leaders.”
At the beginning of his three year term, Mr. Pallas will implement a new leadership structure at the firm, including the formation of a 10 member Executive Committee, which will be supported by sub-committees, all reporting into the firm’s Board. In addition, the firm’s Executive Director, Kathleen Garrity, will have a larger management role within the Executive Committee.
“I am a strong believer in having lawyers do what they do best, and business people do what they do best,” said Pallas. “With the varying strengths of our attorneys and business executives, I’m confident that the new firm management structure is the strongest possible to support our strategic growth.”
Mr. Pallas’ growth plan for the firm includes enhancing the firm’s current 10 locations, as well as identifying additional locations for new offices.
“As a firm, we are in a constant growth mindset,” said Pallas. “We are always looking for synergistic partners that support our expansion into emerging areas as well as areas that strengthen our current practices.”
Some of those practices include the Energy and Utilities Group, which Pallas hopes to expand into the greater Marcellus Shale corridor; the newly added Internal Investigations Group, which has begun to handle Title IX cases; and the firm’s Real Estate Group, which should soon include land use. In addition, Mr. Pallas plans to launch an environmental practice group.
“Our firm has made a name for itself in every facet of the construction industry, and under George’s leadership we’re poised to enhance that reputation by offering more comprehensive and robust counsel for clients and an appealing, growth-mode work environment for attorneys,” said Roy Cohen, President and Founder of Cohen Seglias.
Mr. Pallas counsels construction clients including general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on both public and private projects. He handles matters involving commercial, industrial, institutional and residential construction, heavy highway, water supply and treatment, solid hazardous waste, school and various other multi-prime projects.
For over 20 years, he has handled cases at both the state and federal levels in a multitude of jurisdictions, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware. He has argued cases at the state and federal appellate levels in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Mr. Pallas resides in Moorestown, NJ with his wife. He has two daughters who attend the University of Michigan.
