The defendants asserted a counterclaim for more than the contract balance, which was rejected in full, while the client sought recovery of claims for extra work, acceleration and extended general conditions

Jen represents clients in construction litigation, arbitration and mediation on public and private projects including tunnels, bridges, subways, sewers, highways, and other heavy civil construction. She counsels transportation, utility and highway contractors, subcontractors and suppliers on issues that arise during projects, claim resolution, and litigation or arbitration of unresolved project disputes. Jen litigates contested bid protests, failure-to-pay claims, delays and construction defects and other claims, working to recover expenses, protect opportunities and close out projects. She has represented public and private owners in construction defect, and other construction-related disputes.
Additionally, Jen served as an arbitrator in a private arbitration of a homeowner’s claims regarding construction defects against a builder. She also advises clients on construction related regulatory matters.
Jen is an active member of the firm, frequently assuming leadership roles. She served as the Cohen Seglias’ Associate Liaison, a role where she brought topics of importance to the associates before the board. She is also an active member of the Women’s Initiative. Jen was a mentor in the firm’s Summer Associate Program and previously served as co-editor-in-chief of the firm’s newsletter, Construction in Brief.
Before joining the firm, Jen was with the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, Division of Law in the Transportation, Construction and Condemnation Section. In this role, she reviewed bids for Department of Transportation construction projects, participated in bid protests, drafted appellate briefs, and reviewed contracts. She also litigated delay and design defect claims involving the Department of Transportation and the Department of Treasury, Division of Property Management and Construction.
