- Defended a design-build mechanical contractor against a multi-million dollar design defect claim brought in state court by the owner of a 120-bed skilled nursing facility in Western Pennsylvania.
- Representing a number of subcontractors in connection with delay and impact claims arising out of the construction of a new state correctional institution in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
- Represented a nationally recognized structural steel fabricator in connection with two (2) separate multi-million dollar delay, inefficiency and change order claims against a public owner for work performed on the Museum Pavilion and Vehicular Security Center and Tour Bus Parking Facility as part of the redevelopment of the World Trade Center.
- Represented an interiors subcontractor in West Virginia federal district court in pursuit of claims for delay and lost productivity against the prime contractor as a result of a more than three (3) year delay in the construction of a biometric technology center for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
- Drafted and negotiated a GMP contract for the construction of a local medical marijuana dispensary.
- Successfully defeated a school district’s construction defect roof claim on summary judgment as being time-barred as against the general contractor.
- Defended a wind turbine supplier against multiple mechanics’ liens filed by a material vendor on a 63-turbine wind farm project located in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
- Obtained a temporary restraining order against an equipment supplier who made numerous unlawful attempts to remove staged containment materials being used for the cleaning and painting of a bridge for the West Virginia Department of Transportation.
- Assisted with the submission and prosecution of an unforeseen site conditions claim in connection with a signage installation for a PennDOT project.
As co-chair of Cohen Seglias’ Construction Contracts & Risk Management Group, Lisa is a trusted advisor to her clients throughout the construction process. With an active and diverse construction litigation practice, she represents owners, general contractors, construction managers, and the different trades in complex matters involving all phases of the construction process. Lisa has substantial experience serving electrical and mechanical subcontractors and is cognizant of their specific needs.
Lisa works with her clients to manage risks to avoid litigation when possible. This includes negotiating and reviewing contracts to prevent future issues. She also advises clients on preparing claims for extra work, inefficiencies, delays, and changed conditions while construction is ongoing for both private and public sector projects.
Lisa served as managing partner for the Pittsburgh office, overseeing client relations, staffing, and hiring in the office. She founded the firm’s Women’s Initiative, promoting the development of professional women.
