MELISSA C. ANGELINE is a senior associate in the Labor & Employment Group of Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC.

Ms. Angeline’s practice concentrates on representing and counseling employers in all aspects of employment law. She defends employers in employment discrimination claims before state and federal courts and before administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the Philadelphia Commission on Human Rights, and the New Jersey Division of Civil Rights. Melissa has represented employers in numerous cases alleging unlawful retaliation and discrimination on the basis of disability, sex, race, religion, age, national origin, ethnicity and, more recently, sexual orientation.

She has successfully settled and mediated numerous cases, and has litigated and won summary judgment for employers on numerous cases involving allegations of employment discrimination, medical leave laws, wage and hour issues, and other employment laws.

Ms. Angeline also has defended employers before administrative agencies and courts involving wage and hour claims, exempt vs. non-exempt status, wage-hour audits, and prevailing wage claims. She has represented management in various matters before the National Labor Relations Board, at both the regional office and national levels.

She provides day-to-day counseling on a wide range of subjects, including new hire issues, employment agreements, drug testing, family and medical leave, performance and disciplinary issues, employee benefits, terminations, layoffs, separation agreements and restrictive covenants. Melissa also helps employers establish “best practices,” and provides training on various employment issues.

Ms. Angeline previously practiced management-side employment and labor law at two large Philadelphia firms.

Presently, Ms. Angeline serves as Director and Co-Vice Chair to the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
