ROY S. COHEN is founder, president and a member of the Executive Committee of Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC. In his practice Mr. Cohen represents clients involved in every facet of the construction industry, including construction managers, general contractors, municipal authorities, private developers, major trade contractors, architects, engineers and sureties. He also acts as general counsel to more than 100 clients.

Prior to founding Cohen Seglias, Mr. Cohen worked in the litigation department of a large firm in Philadelphia for three years. In the spring of 1983, he joined an eight-person firm in Blue Bell, PA, where he began to focus on construction litigation. In August of 1988, Mr. Cohen formed a three-person firm in Philadelphia that became the precursor to Cohen Seglias.

During the course of his career, Mr. Cohen has handled more than 1,000 mediations, arbitrations and litigations on both the state and federal levels in a variety of jurisdictions, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, West Virginia, Hawaii, Maryland, Colorado and California. Mr. Cohen has twice argued before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, he has also argued several cases on the appellate level in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. He has been admitted pro hac vice in more than 10 states.

A frequent speaker on construction litigation matters, Mr. Cohen has spoken several times at the Super Conference on Construction in San Francisco, to the National Certified Public Accountants Convention in Las Vegas, to the National Electrical Contractors Association in London, to the American Arbitration Association, and to the National Business Institute, as well as at a variety of seminars sponsored by the Firm and its clients.

Mr. Cohen has served as counsel to the Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Associations for the past eight years. He counts more than 90 electrical contractors as clients. He holds memberships with the Philadelphia, New Jersey and American Bar Associations. He is also a member of the ABA's Forum on the Construction Industry and the Tort and Insurance Practice section (Fidelity and Surety Law Committee).

In January 2002, Mr. Cohen was featured in the Philadelphia Business Journal's CEO Profile. He has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the field of Construction Law by Law & Politics in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. He was also named as a Super Lawyer in the 2009 Corporate Counsel Edition for Construction Law.
