In 1988, firm president Roy S. Cohen formed the foundation of Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC with the establishment of a three-attorney office in Philadelphia that specialized in construction law and insurance defense work. In 1998, as the needs of the firm's clients became more complex, the firm shed its insurance defense department to specifically focus on the business issues challenging its client base.

In 2000, a Business Practice Group was created to handle real estate, tax and trust and estate issues for the firm's construction clientele and, moreover, to expand the firm's opportunities to serve other commercial clients. The firm's Business Practice Group currently represents commercial clients from all sectors of the business community.

In 2002, in the interest of becoming more of a full-service resource to its clients, Cohen Seglias merged with Rothenberg Silverman & Furman, PC, a 50-year-old law firm specializing in labor and employment law. The merger enabled the firm to complement its excellence in construction-related and other commercial matters with a first-rate Labor & Employment Group to expand its scope of services to include the following: aiding management in hiring and firing issues; the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements; counseling management regarding union relations; and the like. From a geographic standpoint, following the merger, the firm added offices in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Wilmington, DE, to accommodate its growth in those areas.
