DC Procurement Technical Assistance Center: A Primer on Post-Award Compensation

August 17, 2017 - Washington, DC

On August 17, 2017 Cohen Seglias attorneys Maria Panichelli and Amy Kirby are presenting their seminar, "A Primer on Post-Award Compensation: REAS and Claims," for the DC Procurement Technical Assistance Center (DC PTAC) in Washington, DC.

As anyone working in the Federal contracting realm will tell you, winning a contract is only the beginning — performance presents a whole new set of challenges. The FAR and its supplementary regulations impose a host of obligations on contractors, and can impact contractor performance. These rules and regulations also dictate the ways in which contractors can seek compensation for unanticipated costs incurred on the job. In this seminar, you will learn about two key strategies for seeking compensation when something goes wrong post-award: Requests for Equitable Adjustments, and Claims. We will discuss the differences between these tools and discuss when to use which. We will also walk through the Contract Disputes Act claims and appeals process, and provide strategies for learning how to maximize a contractor’s chances of success when making claims against the Federal government.
