John’s clients hail from all areas of the construction industry and include general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, sureties, and owners. He is adept at negotiating contracts and responding to questions that arise during the construction process and prides himself on providing quick, practical solutions to his clients’ issues.
John is a litigator with a particular emphasis on transactional work. He has handled cases at both the state and federal levels in a multitude of jurisdictions, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Florida, and West Virginia. He has also argued cases at the appellate levels in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, and Minnesota. As a proponent of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes including mediation, arbitration, and “mini-trials,” John has arbitrated numerous construction disputes. He has also been selected to serve on the commercial arbitration panel of the American Arbitration Association.
As chair of Cohen Seglias’ eDiscovery Group, John helps clients create document retention policies. He also has experience helping clients navigate litigation hold letter scenarios and work with large quantities of electronically stored information.
John is a shareholder and member of the board of directors at Cohen Seglias. He has been with the firm since its inception, starting as the sole associate and serving as managing partner from 2000 through the end of 2010.
