A Year In Review And A Look Ahead
In this fast-paced session, our panel covered the most significant developments in labor and employment law in 2013, including Supreme Court rulings, new regulations, and legislation at the federal and state levels on issues affecting every employer such as workplace bullying, social media, EEOC litigation, background checks, FMLA, and whistleblowers. We also provided a look ahead on hot topics on the horizon in 2014.
My Employees Can’t Sue Me For That, Can They?
Is the employment at will doctrine alive and well? Or can employees bring suit for just about any termination? In this session, we reviewed the maze of legal theories and regulations being used by litigious employees and their predatory attorneys. Far from an academic lecture, the point of this session is to provide “real world” examples so that attendees can spot and avoid legal minefields when implementing termination decisions.
Dotting Your I’s And Crossing Your T’s: Agreements and Policies In The Workplace
When should you use a written severance agreement to protect yourself from a lawsuit? Which employees should be signing employment agreements or non-compete agreements? Does your employee handbook have all of the policies that need to be covered? In this interactive session, our panel provided the nuts-and-bolts advice you need to start getting all of your employment-related policies, handbooks, employment agreements, hiring policies, and termination procedures in place and up to snuff.
This program has been approved for 3 CLE & CPE credits.
