“His responsiveness, demeanor and knowledge of the law are fabulous across the board.”
– Chambers USA 2023 client feedback
A trial-tested advocate and AAA-listed neutral, Tony has spent more than 30 years resolving the disputes that can derail a construction project — and, just as often, preventing them from happening in the first place. Since 1995, he has focused his practice exclusively on construction law, representing owners, contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers on projects across the country. Ranked annually in Chambers USA and listed in Best Lawyers® in America for construction litigation, he guides clients from contract negotiation through project closeout, wherever their projects are located.
He understands the pressures unique to each tier of the construction chain and helps clients spot opportunities, manage risk, and make sound decisions when problems surface mid-project.
Because he sits on both sides of the table — as trial lawyer and as a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Roster of Neutrals — Tony brings clients a rare, practical view of how construction disputes actually get resolved. He has tried construction cases in federal and state courts and before arbitral panels nationwide.
Tony handles major construction disputes for both plaintiffs and defendants on projects involving energy and transmission infrastructure, advanced manufacturing and data center facilities, transportation infrastructure, correctional and institutional buildings, high-rise towers, water treatment and other municipal facilities. He resolves claims relating to payment disputes, delay and disruption, prompt payment statutes, mechanics’ liens, and surety bonds.
Tony is counsel to project stakeholders on several of the nation’s most significant construction projects, including the largest clean energy infrastructure project in U.S. history, located in the Southwest; the largest state building project in a Midwestern state’s history; and one of the largest single industrial investments in the history of a major American automaker, located in the Southeast.
Beyond his caseload, Tony is active in construction trade associations and a frequent voice in the field — presenting seminars and webinars and authoring articles on emerging construction law and industry trends.
