Performing government contracts can be tricky for small businesses, especially when subcontracting is involved. We explained how to successfully navigate the often confusing performance of work requirements and limitations on subcontracting, and separate the facts from the myths that help create this confusion. We walked attendees through recently changed subcontracting limitations rules, explaining how to calculate self-performance requirements on set-aside contracts. Attendees also learned about the “Similarly Situated Entity” carve-out, and the potential issues it raises, as well as selecting subcontract NAICs codes. We included real world examples, including a discussion of precedent setting legal decisions and the risks and consequences of non-compliance.
