Cohen Seglias Adds Family Law Attorney Lisa Roskos as Senior Counsel in Newark, New Jersey
We are pleased to announce that Lisa Roskos has joined the Family Law Group as Senior Counsel in the firm’s Newark office.
“Lisa brings a compassionate and strategic approach to resolving family law issues,” said Carolyn Daly, chair of Cohen Seglias’ Family Law Group. “Her depth of experience in domestic violence matters and custody, as well as her prior experience across a wide range of family matters, along with her commitment to supportive guidance, will be a tremendous benefit to our clients.”
Her previous experience as director of pro bono programs for a non-profit serving survivors of domestic violence makes her an invaluable member of the Cohen Seglias team. Lisa has represented countless victims in FRO and FPO hearings and related custody, visitation and child support matters and has mentored volunteer attorneys in domestic violence and related family law matters. She implemented and managed a client Financial Empowerment Program and Legal Professional Volunteer Program. Before becoming director of Pro Bono programs, she was a staff attorney and senior staff attorney at that organization.
Additionally, Lisa practiced at a law firm in New Jersey, where she handled a broad general practice with a primary focus on family and matrimonial law. In that role, she negotiated and mediated complex matters and prepared and argued motions involving custody, parenting time, alimony, child support and equitable distribution. Her experience also included drafting agreements, preparing appellate briefs and arguing appeals, as well as representing clients in civil litigation, wills, trusts and estates and residential real estate matters.
Steven Williams, managing partner of Cohen Seglias said, “Lisa’s arrival to our growing Family Law Group shows our commitment to grow this group and expand our capabilities as a firm. We are thrilled to have someone of her caliber on our team.”
Lisa earned her J.D. and graduated cum laude from Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law and her B.S., summa cum laude, from Duquesne University. She is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association and has provided private instruction on public speaking skills.
