Cohen Seglias Promotes Florida Attorney Matthew R. Skaroff to Partner
We are pleased to announce that Matthew Skaroff has been promoted to the firm’s partnership, effective January 1, 2024. Across the firm, a total of nine attorneys were promoted to partner.
“Matt is a talented construction attorney and an innate leader, and we are thankful for the work that he has done to establish our office in Fort Lauderdale last year and to grow our presence in Florida,” said Cohen Seglias managing partner Steven Williams. “We congratulate Matt on his new role and look forward to his continued contributions to the team and to the Florida office.”
In June 2023, Matt relocated from Philadelphia to serve as the resident attorney in the firm’s newly established Fort Lauderdale office and has worked to facilitate the office’s operations while helping to serve local firm clients and generate growth in Florida. In November 2023, the office added associate Dylan Wallace, who focuses on construction litigation and matters related to environmental regulations, international procurement, federal, state, and local regulations, as well as corporate compliance. The firm also has an of counsel relationship with Fort Lauderdale-based attorneys Gary Mansfield, Ronnie Bronstein and David Stone of Mansfield Bronstein & Stone, LLC.
Matt concentrates his practice in construction litigation, regularly representing contractors, specialty subcontractors, and owners both during the course of construction and through lawsuits and arbitrations. He works with clients navigating disputes on large-scale commercial, residential, and industrial projects, as well as on public works, including bridges, schools, highways, and airports. Matt has additional experience in construction contracting and risk management, along with experience in domestic and international transactional work and business formation and structuring.
Matt earned his J.D. from the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and his B.A. from Duquesne University. During law school, he served on the Villanova Law Review and completed an externship in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. Matt is a member of the Florida Bar Association’s Construction Law Committee and the Latin Builders Association (LBA), and he has regular involvement with the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
