Shawn R. Farrell has been named General Counsel for the National Utility Contractors Association – New Jersey Chapter (NUCA NJ), the nation’s oldest and largest association for the utility and excavation construction industry.
NUCA represents nearly 2,000 companies in 48 states that provide the materials and workforce to build and maintain underground water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecommunications systems, as well as water treatment plants. The newly formed New Jersey chapter will advance the interests of the utility industry in the state.
“I am honored to serve as the first General Counsel of NUCA NJ,” said Shawn. “I look forward to working with the board members and leadership to grow the association in New Jersey and advocate for the interests of the utility industry.”
Shawn will present at NUCA’s One Call Meeting in Kansas City, MO, on January 23. The event will bring NUCA members together to discuss how they can better navigate the complex one call laws and the impact these laws have on the industry. Shawn’s presentation will focus on various state laws and best practices for developing legislative language when dealing with downtime and non-payment issues.
For more than 20 years, Shawn has represented general contractors, construction managers, owners/developers, subcontractors, design-builders, engineers, developers, and sureties in construction-related litigation. This diverse experience includes all aspects of construction law, contractual disputes, lien law, bond claims, bid disputes, litigation, and dispute resolution.
