The National Law Journal Construction Trailblazers 2022: Edward Seglias

The Trailblazers list celebrates lawyers, chosen from hundreds of nominations, who have made significant marks on the practice, policy and technological advancements in their practice areas.

Ed is the vice president and co-CEO of the firm and a highly regarded trial lawyer noted for his wealth of experience in construction disputes. In his interview with The National Law Journal, he discusses the legal argument he advanced in the Pietrini case, which persuaded the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to reverse the trial court opinion and hold that under Pennsylvania law earned contract amounts cannot be withheld as leverage in negotiations to obtain a waiver of disputed change orders. Winning this case put Ed and the firm on the map in both the construction and legal industries. The court’s decision is still used as a guidepost for contractors and their lawyers seventeen years later.
