Cohen Seglias Adds Litigator Benjamin D. Hartwell as Senior Counsel in Philadelphia
We are pleased to announce that Benjamin Hartwell has joined the firm’s Philadelphia office as senior counsel, where he represents businesses and individuals in complex commercial disputes.

Ben’s practice is interdisciplinary but primarily focuses on litigating and resolving contract disputes. His dynamic work spans several specialized fields, including retrospective premium and deductible recovery, commercial lease litigation, product liability litigation and managing general agent profit allocation. He also has significant experience defending businesses against large-loss property damage and catastrophic injury claims.

Ben earned his J.D., cum laude, from Rutgers Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Mount Union (formerly known as Mount Union College). After graduating law school, he clerked for the Honorable Richard S. Hoffman in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. As a law student, he worked for the Honorable Jerome B. Simandle and the Honorable Freda L. Wolfson, both of whom served stints as Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
An active member of the American and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, Ben is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He is also member of the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel’s Amicus Committee and the Philadelphia Defense Institute’s Product Liability Committee.
