Michael I. Schwartz

Michael is a partner in the firm’s national Construction Litigation Practice Group, representing general contractors, construction managers, trade contractors, design-builders, material suppliers and owners across both public and private projects. He routinely guides clients through mediations, private arbitrations, as well as state and federal court litigation.

In recent years, Michael has regularly handled six- to eight-figure disputes across the commercial, institutional, infrastructure and residential sectors. His experience spans a broad array of complex projects, including hospitals, universities, secured government facilities, data centers, tunnel infrastructure, railroad transit, solar farms, natural gas pipelines, fiberoptic networks, electrical transmission lines, wastewater treatment plants and multi-family residential and condominium developments.

Beyond litigation, Michael takes pride in advocating for a diverse client base to help them achieve their overarching business goals. A key component of his practice focuses on pre-litigation project management and risk avoidance. He regularly assists clients in contract reviews at the onset of construction projects to ensure his clients’ interests remain protected throughout the project lifecycle.

A recognized speaker in the construction law community, Michael frequently delivers lectures and continuing legal education seminars on construction topics such as project management, delay claims, concealed and unforeseen site conditions, indemnification and modular & 3D-printed construction. He regularly presents at annual trade contractor events across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Florida, and serves as co-general counsel to a premier architectural glass and metal association.

Within the firm, Michael serves as co-chair of the Inclusion & Belonging Committee and as a member of the Executive Committee.
