Cohen Seglias is pleased to announce that Rachel James has joined the firm’s Pittsburgh office as senior counsel in the Real Estate and Business Transactions practice groups.
“We are excited to welcome Rachel to the firm and know that her experience will add depth to our team and benefit our clients throughout the state,” said Marian Kornilowicz, chair of Cohen Seglias’ Business Transactions and Real Estate Groups.
Rachel represents clients in varied business transactions ranging from corporate governance and business succession to commercial real estate transactions, including due diligence, title review, deal structuring, negotiation and documentation, and closings. She works with landlords and tenants in the negotiation of lease agreements for commercial and industrial use and has experience advising developers on title risks, zoning, and other land use-related matters. Rachel regularly represents energy clients in both renewable and oil and gas development and assists buyers and sellers in the purchase and sale of assets, including real estate development portfolios.
Prior to joining Cohen Seglias, Rachel was senior counsel with a Pittsburgh-based law firm and has worked in the Pittsburgh area since earning her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, as well as her B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh. Rachel is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and is a member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) as well as the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
