Government Contracting Database
Representations and Certifications
Section K of the Uniform Contract Format contains a series of “Representations and Certifications,” covering items such as business organization, small business status, affirmative action, responsibility, drug-free workplace, and environmental matters. Some of these certifications contain check-off boxes for bidders to acknowledge the appropriate statements or conditions. It is important for the person signing the bid to read, understand, and properly complete these certifications. Failure to submit the correct information, particularly regarding the representation about suspension and debarment, or clean air, and water, may lead to rejection of the bid as nonresponsive and, possibly, an investigation, and proceeding by the agency for making a false statement.
