Cohen Seglias Adds Construction Attorney Steve Toprani as Senior Counsel in Pittsburgh Office
Cohen Seglias is pleased to announce the addition of Senior Counsel Steve Toprani to the firm’s Construction Group in Pittsburgh.
“Steve brings a unique perspective to our team, having served in-house at a construction company,” said Lane Kelman, Chair of Cohen Seglias’ Construction Group. “His understanding of the operational, regulatory, and business challenges that construction clients regularly face, in conjunction with his litigation background provide an atypical, sophisticated skillset for our clients.”
Steve focuses his practice on construction law and commercial litigation, drawing on his background as a former C-suite executive and prosecutor to advise organizations on risk, compliance, and governance. He regularly assists clients and leadership teams with identifying vulnerabilities, conducting internal investigations, addressing regulatory and operational gaps, and developing strategies that reduce liability and strengthen organizational resilience.
“We are very pleased to add Steve to our Pittsburgh office, continuing our growth in the region to meet client demand,” said Managing Partner Steven Williams. “Last spring, we opened the doors to our new home in Pittsburgh’s FNB Financial Center. After more than 20 years in the city, we’re proud to continue expanding our presence in the region by attracting top legal talent like Steve.”
Prior to joining Cohen Seglias, Steve served as chief legal officer for an industry leading mechanical construction company serving the Mid-Atlantic region. He was responsible for all in-house litigation, including commercial, construction and administrative matters involving the DEP, EPA, EHB, and OSHA, and represented the company in mediation, arbitration, and trial.
Steve earned his J.D. from the Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Duquesne University, his MBA from Youngstown State University, and his B.A. from California University of Pennsylvania.
